Meet Theresa T. News What inspired you to pursue your career in insurance/broking? I’ve always enjoyed problem-solving and helping people. Insurance felt like the perfect fit—it’s dynamic and provides the opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives. Can you share a key milestone or achievement in your career? Joining Knightcorp has been a game-changer for me. It opened my eyes to the vast opportunities within the insurance industry and broadened my perspective on what’s possible. What challenges have you faced as a woman in your career, and how did you overcome them? Early in my career, I experienced gender biases—there were times when my ideas weren’t taken seriously in meetings. It was frustrating, but I focused on delivering strong results and letting my work speak for itself. I also sought out mentors who encouraged me to step up, speak out, and trust my voice, which made a huge difference in building my confidence. What skills or traits do you think are essential for success in this industry? Good communication, attention to detail, and resilience. Adaptability is also crucial, along with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships. What advice would you give to other women starting their careers in insurance or business? Don’t be afraid to ask questions and take on challenges. Find mentors, be persistent, and remember that your voice matters. Who is a woman that has inspired you, and why? Definitely Kristie! She’s always supportive and leads by example. She’s shown me the value of hard work and confidence while also emphasising the importance of work-life balance. How do you balance your career with other aspects of your life? Time management is key. I prioritise what’s important, delegate when I can, and make sure to set aside time for family and self-care. What does International Women’s Day mean to you? It’s a time to celebrate the progress women have made, reflect on the work still to be done, and support one another on this journey. How can businesses like Knightcorp support gender equality and women in the workplace? By offering mentorship programs, promoting work-life balance, and ensuring equal opportunities at all levels, especially in leadership roles. Category: News « Back
