Jona's Reflection
- Tell us about a moment when you stepped out of your comfort zone at work that resulted in a memorable achievement.
- One achievement I’m proud of was suggesting a major improvement to our renewal processes. What was previously done manually was automated through a change I proposed. This small improvement saved time and made the process smoother for everyone. It’s still in use today, and it’s fulfilling to know that something I suggested continues to help the team.
- In the spirit of “Balancing the Scales,” what is one unwritten barrier you encountered and how did you navigate it?
- An unwritten barrier I faced early in my career was a lack of confidence in communicating over the phone. Even thinking about making calls made me anxious. I decided to take on these calls when needed, and over time I became more confident. It taught me that sometimes the biggest barrier is the one we place on ourselves.
- What’s an interesting challenge or ‘puzzle’ you get to solve in your role?
- Balancing multiple priorities while maintaining quality is a daily challenge. I juggle new business, endorsements, cancellations, and renewals at the same time. At first, it was difficult to manage everything at once, but better time management and knowing when to ask for help made a big difference. Coordinating tasks and relying on a supportive team feels like solving a puzzle, and it’s satisfying to see everything run smoothly.
- If you could go back to your first day in your career, what three words of encouragement would you give yourself?
- If I could go back to my first day, the advice I’d give myself is simple: be confident, keep learning, trust yourself, and don’t be afraid to try, failure is only a problem if you don’t try at all.
- What is an underrated skill essential for long-term success in this industry?
- Adaptability is an underrated skill in this industry. Things change fast, and being open to learning and adjusting is key. Just as important is having supportive teammates and mentors to guide and inspire you along the way.
- Name a woman you admire and take inspiration from, and why.
- I admire my mother for her resilience, dedication, and ability to balance so many responsibilities while still supporting those around her. Her example inspires me to stay grounded, persevere through challenges, and give my best in both work and life.
- What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
- To me, International Women’s Day is about celebrating women’s achievements, acknowledging the challenges we overcome, and encouraging each other to keep growing and supporting one another.
